(EURWEB)Busta Rhymes will have another assault charge added to his impressive collection following a Dec. 26 incident with a driver who was just trying to collect his past-due paychecks. According to the New York Post, police plan to charge Rhymes with third-degree assault for allegedly striking 39-year-old Eddie Hatchett multiple times, causing a laceration on his face. The attack allegedly occurred in Busta’s office on W. Broadway in Manhattan, when Hatchett – who drove Rhymes' Rolls Royce, Bentley and bulletproof GMC SUV – requested 19 days of back payment he was allegedly owed. Hatchett filed a complaint with police the following day. "I don't know what set him off," Hatchett told the New York Post. "I told him, 'I ain't scared of you. That's when his bodyguards grabbed me, and he punched and kicked me." Hatchett says Rhymes owes back pay to several other bodyguards who have since been fired. His decision to approach Busta, whose real name is Trevor Smith, was fueled by his inability to purchase gifts for his family during the holidays. "I didn't speak to my daughter for Christmas. I was embarrassed," he said. "For me to come out of my community like that and work for him days in a row, nights, not seeing my family, and not getting paid, and for him to act like that - I'll never put myself in that position again." Busta was out of the country when police announced their decision to file the misdemeanor charge. He was due back into the U.S. sometime Tuesday. Rhymes' lawyer Robert Kalina said his client will surrender to authorities upon his return. Busta is also facing assault charges for an August 2005 incident in which his bodyguards allegedly beat a man for spitting on his vehicle in Manhattan.
