After all the promotion, semi-nude magazine covers and televison appearances Janet Jackson's latest album, 20Y.O, did not live up to hype.
According to soundscans, 20Y.O, debuted a dissaponting #2 selling 296,000 copies - one of her worst showings.

(Luda's album Release Therapy was #1 YEAH Luda u deserve it boo-boo).

MediaTakeOut.com spoke late last night with a Virgin Records insider who blames Jermaine Dupri for Janet's poor album sales. The insider explained, "Janet Jackson is a pop icon, and Jermaine tried to turn her into an R&B singer ... I mean she's [EXPLITIVE] Janet Jackson not Letoya Luckett." The angry insider continued, "this was really a great album, I still can't figure out how Jermaine messed this one up so badly."

Allegedly, JD had one foot out the door even before Janet's album was released. The source tells, "during the build up for Janet's album, Jermaine made some comments that people around here thought were racist ... he said that Janet makes music for Black people ... I guess he didn't want White people to buy her album." The source continued, "after he made those statements, [a top Virgin Records executive] told me that if Janet didn't sell big, Jermaine was getting fired."

Damn that's messed up. I may talk about JD alot but I can't deny he is a very gifted producer but the "insider" did have a point about him trying to turn Janet into a R&B singer but I don't think that he didn't want white people to buy her album, just that he wanted (black) people to know that she has not forgotten about them too. Besides u know how the Jackson's do.....they try to return to there roots when they are in need of support (she got that move from her crazy ass brother)
