Here is a pic of Angelina Jolie on the set of A Mighty Heart. The film is based on the 2003 book A Mighty Heart: The Brave Life and Death of My Husband Danny Pearl, by Mariane Pearl.
Jolie plays Mariane, widow of the Wall Street Journal reporter, who was murdered by terrorists in Pakistan in 2002 while researching a story on the links between "shoe bomber" Richard Reid and Islamic spiritual leader Sheikh Mubarak Gilani. Mariane was pregnant with their child when her husband was kidnapped.

The casting of Angelina Jolie to play the bi-racial Mariane Pearl, has been receiving a lot of criticism from many civil rights groups and members of Black Hollywood. Thandie Newton from the Academy Award winning film Crash, claimed after seeing the above picture, "God I'm shocked. She's been blacked up to play a black women."
"I have to say it's surprising, very surprising...........it's an absolutely fantastic role, I would loved to have played it but I'm not going to criticise or judge her until I've seen the film, that would be wrong of me."

Ok now I COMPLETELY agree. There are bi-racial actress both known and unknown that could have been cast however, there are a couple of factors that need to be considered:

1. Mariana Pearl SOLD the rights to her book and was aware, some reports even claim she was "thrilled", that Jolie was being cast to play her, as a matter of fact Jennifer Aniston was originally considered for the role. (I'm glad that changed. Angie has a little more "flavor" than the chick from Friends)

2. Angelina Jolie is a tabloid darling. This is Hollywood folks, u know how it goes, if it generates intrest, it generates dollars.........

and finallly..........but most important.....

3.The producer of the film is her baby daddy!!!! As long as she cocking her legs open everynight she probably gone be in every one of the movies he produce, ok!!!
